Tuesday 06 May – 9:00 – 13:00 (CET) Mercure Hotel Koblenz (Germany)
On Tuesday 06 May, the ProtectFish Consortium organises its first stakeholder Conference entitled “Dialogue on predation as a challenge for protected fish and bird species?”.
The event aims atbridging the gap between fish and bird conservationists by fostering science-based dialogue and collaborative approaches. The conference outcomes will be used for the development of fish protection and wildlife management strategies.
The event concentrates on:
- harmonizing species protection,
- nature conservation, and
- predation control.
Our objective is to adopt a perspective prioritizing both the protection of threatened river fish (i.e. grayling) and the preservation of EU biodiversity.
Given that both cormorants and their prey (i.e. grayling) are protected under EU-legislation, this requires addressing the protection of both bird and fish species simultaneously.
The event is organised in the framework of ProtectFish’ Work Package 3 – cormorants and habitats – ecosystem effect and protection of river fish – under guidance of the University of Koblenz.
